The core team released the first beta of WordPress 4.8, which brings new media widgets among other things.

On May 13, the first beta version of WordPress 4.8 was published. The larger changes in the new version will be, as written in the last weekly recap, a TinyMCE update, new media widgets, WYSIWYG for the text widget and an update for the WordPress news widget in the dashboard.
