This week, the accessibility team published test results to the current state of Gutenberg accessibility.

Current state of Gutenberg accessibility

The accessibility team tested the 2.4 version of Gutenberg on how accessible it is. In short (quoted from the post »Accessibility of Gutenberg, the state of play« by Rian Rietveld):

• Gutenberg still needs extensive work to meet basic standards, like keyboard accessibility and semantics
• Especially for screen reader users, Gutenberg as it stands right now is a dramatic step back in usability
• We need to write a manual/documentation for assistive technology users

GDPR compliance tools roadmap

Andrew Ozz published a roadmap for the tools for GDPR compliance in his post »Roadmap: tools for GDPR compliance«. The main tasks are (partly quoted from Andrew’s post):

1. »Add tools for creating a privacy policy«, so that there would be a special privacy policy page. Plugins and themes could hook into the content of that page to add parts.
2. »Create guidelines for plugins on how to get GDPR compliant«.
3. »Add tools to core to facilitate compliance, and privacy in general«. Two main tools are planned: Export of all personal data that is stored and deleting or anonymizing of personal data.
4. »Add documentation/help for site owners on how to use these tools«.
