The release fixes a security issue that allows users with specific capabilities to delete files outside the uploads folder.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Among that, the new version fixes a few bugs. You can find out more on that in the post \u00bb<a href=\"https:\/\/wordpress.org\/news\/2018\/07\/wordpress-4-9-7-security-and-maintenance-release\/\">WordPress 4.9.7 Security and Maintenance Release<\/a>\u00ab by Aaron D. Campbell.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Update on Gutenberg<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Tammie Lister published the post \u00bb<a href=\"https:\/\/wordpress.org\/news\/2018\/07\/update-on-gutenberg\/\">Update on Gutenberg<\/a>\u00ab, where she outlines the current things that are in progress and the planned things for Gutenberg with the endpoint of releasing it in WordPress 5.0.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So, for example, it is planned to release a 4.9.x release in July where users are invited to install Gutenberg or the Classic Editor plugin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Misc<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>\u00bb<a href=\"https:\/\/make.wordpress.org\/core\/2018\/07\/02\/php-meeting-recap-june-25th\/\">PHP Meeting Recap \u2013 June 25th<\/a>\u00ab.
