This week, Mika Epstein published an update for the guidelines regarding human-readable source code and the one for trialware.
- »PHP Meeting Recap – August 20th«.
- »Dev Chat Summary: August 22, 2018 (4.9.9 weeks 1 & 2)«. There is no hard timeline for 5.0 yet, so it looks like 4.9.9 is going to be a regular 4–6 weeks release.
Guideline update on trialware and human readability
Mika Epstein published a post »Guideline Update: Clarifications to trialware and human readability« that describes updates for the fourth and fifth plugin directory guidelines. Regarding human readability of code, if you use build tools that minify code, you have to include the source files in the plugin or provide a link to a public place where the source code can be reviewed.
Besides that, rule 5 was modified, which is about trialware that is not allowed in the directory. You can read more about the updates in Mika’s post.
