Research before you sell out

Mika Epstein published a post »Reminder: Research Before You Sell Out« on Make/Plugins. In the post, she writes that plugin authors should think and be cautious before selling a plugin, and that »The primary reason people want to buy ›popular‹ plugins is to use it to spam.«

She lists signs one should watch out for, for example, that the offer includes prices based on user counts. She also writes that developers should ask the potential buyers, how they are going to improve the plugin (and if they cannot show that, not to sell the plugin), and more.
